Taieri Network is a place-based community group in the Taieri focused on supporting, connecting and coordinating community-led initiatives. We aim to increase connectivity and resilience in the community. Whether you are new to the Taieri or are a long term resident, Taieri Network is here for you. We aim to be a 'one-stop-shop' of all things (services, events, businesses, community groups and activities) in our community.
If you want to get involved, connect with a service, or have an idea - connecting in with our friendly team can be the start of your journey in making Taieri the best place to be.
Cartoon Drawing Workshop - Brent Harpur
Tues 23rd April 7pm - 9pm
Mixed - Children and Adults
Learn to draw cartoons and caricatures.
Brent Harpur is a self-taught cartoonist, art educator & entertainer. For 33 years, he has taught cartooning with both children & adults.
Brent started drawing at the age of five and at eleven he started losing his eyesight. He has been legally blind since his teens, but this has not stopped Brent from passionately pursuing his love for drawing.
As an educator, he asserts that cartooning (and the confidence people gain from learning it) can be all-inclusive and hugely instrumental in building stronger relationships and communities.
NOTE: Support workers attend for free and can join in too.
COST: $33.46 (includes booking & processing fee of $3.46)

For 12yrs - 18yrs mini expo-style event bringing together youth-focused organisations to showcase their youth programmes and interactive activities. Hear from inspiring speakers, play games, and explore outdoor adventures like Laser Tag and cricket! Plus, we're thrilled to welcome special guest Brent Harpur, a talented cartoonist from Oamaru, who will be giving caricature lessons!
Learn about the power of volunteering and its impact while enjoying face painting, balloon twisting, and even trying your hand at drumming or guitar! And for those seeking a moment of relaxation, we've got a cosy chill-out corner waiting for you.
From making poi, learning waiata, to getting your hair braided, there's something for everyone. And let's not forget delicious hot chocolates and yummy food to keep you fuelled throughout the day!
